BIO

I bought my first telescope in the early 2000s and quickly decided that I wanted to take images rather than just view objects in night sky.  I have been lucky enough to meet like minded people who have helped me through the years enabling me to move from very basic imaging (that none the less I was very proud of at the time!) to the more advanced imaging I can do now.

I have multiple setups that I use from my base near Colchester, Essex.  I have a fixed observatory and a portable kit for going to shows such as Kelling Heath or just going out into the field.

The latest incarnation of the fixed setup consists of an Altair Astro 10" RCT fitted with a ZWO EAF auto focuser, a ZWO ASI2600MC Pro CMOS camera, ZWO off axis guider 2 large format, with a ZWO ASI 174MM Mini guide camera.  The mount is a Losmandy Titan 50.  I also use a Mount Hub Pro  to help keep the wiring under control.  This all controlled by N.I.N.A. on a PC strapped to the pier.

For the portable setups, I have an Askar 200mm lens fitted with an ZWO EAF motor focus, mounted on an iOptron CEM40EC, used with an ASIAir Plus as the control on which I use another ZWO ASI2600MC Pro for wide field astronomy

Some of my pictures have been published in Sky at Night and Astronomy Now magazines over the years,  In April 2017, I won the monthly Sky at Night image competition with my image of the Rose Galaxy which can be seen on my pages.
